The founders and artistic directors of Mr.Image Theatre are Iva Mandick (background: dramaturg) and Petar Mandick (background: classical ballet). Their professional life is marked by more than 20 years of making theatre.
Before Mr.Image they founded Theatre The Mask (1981) and Nieuw Symbolistisch Theater (1986). They have created and produced a number of award-winning productions that have been played in theatres and theatre festivals throughout Europe. With Mr.Image (founded 1995) they introduced their unique art to the world of business events.
The Mask for 21st century
Their theatre style was firstly signified by large and grotesque mask with strong, fixed expression and controlled movement based on ballet technique. Later in their work they introduced a totally new feature: superrealistic flexible full-body mask - with actors being completely transformed into 'more-real-than-the-real-life' characters.
The mask has always played an important role in their theatre-language. In their theatre the mask appeared in hundreds of faces, from simple archaic form to sophisticated Clone-Mask, the mask for 21st century. Their work re-creates the magic of the mask, re-inventing mask-theatre and bringing it to a new dimension.
